Fertility It is my opinion that Reflexology is one of the best natural ways of helping with conception problems. The reasoning behind this is simple – in Reflexology we have a very appropriate tool to gain access to all areas of the body. These include all the organs, lymphatic system, immune system, the specifics of the reproductive system and even the mental/emotional aspects. Assuming that there is no physiological reason why a couple cannot conceive, Reflexology may be the perfect answer! The key to Reflexology is ‘balancing’ in a 3-dimensional way, in other words encouraging the body to work as efficiently as possible physically, mentally & emotionally. Sadly, some male partners refuse to attend Reflexology sessions for fertility issues, leaving it to their spouses to assume responsibility. Yet in natural conception and IVF, both partners are involved………..! It is my opinion that both partners should, if at all possible, attend Reflexology sessions to ensure that both are balanced as much as possible (in a 3-dimensional way of course!) ** Stress, may well play a major factor in infertility. From the clients that I see, if there is plenty of stress going on, inevitably some kind of hormonal imbalance will be occurring. In cases of fertility it is important to access and balance all relevant parts of the body during Reflexology but particularly the pituitary gland and reproductive organs. However, it appears that influencing the adrenal gland reflexes (I call them “the body’s anti-stress buttons”), really makes the difference……………….. ** Pregnancy Contrary to other opinions, in my view, to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy, Reflexology is the very best thing to do to all the way from day one of the pregnancy through to the birth. Reflexology may help with Morning Sickness, Heartburn, Sciatica/Lower Back Pain, Depression & Mood Swings. My wife is a very good example of this. She received Reflexology from me every week during pregnancy and being an ‘older mother’ at the age of 46, had no problems whatsoever and even used Reflexology during labour for very effective pain relief. ( http://www.harmonioushealthcare.co.uk/testimonials.htm ) To summarize, pregnancy is a natural occurrence and wherever possible, should be treated in a natural way. However, even though Reflexology is a natural type of healing, caution should be used (common sense) where there has been a history of miscarriages, but rather than avoiding Reflexology altogether, it can still be used, but the reproductive areas reflexes should be treated very gently or completely omitted. I am not aware of any evidence to support that Reflexology may cause problems during pregnancy! Finally, a mention for Post-Natal Depression** - enter the magnificent adrenal gland in conjunction with Reflexology – why suffer needlessly………? Babies & Children I often get asked “what age can people have Reflexology from”. The simple answer is “any age!” My daughter is a prime example, using Reflexology on her for Teething, Colic & Constipation with amazing (fairly instant) results. I’ve found babies and children to be extremely receptive to Reflexology and have used it on cases of Infant Bed Wetting, Low Immune Systems, Poor Sleep Patterns, Headaches, Bowel Disorders and General Pain (where nothing else has worked) all with great effect. A little known fact about Reflexology is that it may be used as a preventative form of medicine. In other words, having regular Reflexology treatments (e.g. monthly) may help to avoid some health issues simply by keeping the body working at optimum levels – 3 dimensionally of course! Brian Jeffery attended a specialist course on “How Reflexology helps conception, pregnancy & childbirth” on 18th October 2003 in Malvern, Worcs with specialist Reflexologist tutor Lee Anthony Taylor (see Lee’s link for more ) http://www.effective-reflexology.com/index.html Follow this link for Brian’s view on Reflexology in general. http://www.harmonioushealthcare.co.uk/reflexology.htm
